adding a subwoofer

so as you know, the benz system sucks bad when you want to bump some rap music. ive put together a few number of systems but i know the benz is a lil bit different. By any chance, do you guys know exactly what is needed to add a amplifier and a sub to the existing stock comand setup? I was gonna construct a custom fiberglass trunk enclosure to test it out.

anybody? someone out there must have add a amp/sub to their stock system
You just need a hi/lo converter, and a really good installer. I had a full custom system in my last benz, on the stock head unit. I would recommend Xtreme Motoring in Anaheim, they do nothing but Benzes. The reason I went with them, after looking @ every high end shop in SoCal, They had Suge Knights car there, believe it or not, a PINK CL600, with the craziest system Ive ever seen. These guys do top notch work. Heres a pic

how much are those hi lo converters and which one do you have? are they difficult to install? I still plan on fabricating my own trunk enclosure so having a 2nd party install the convertor so i can just hook up all the audio can be a option.
BlueMonster, what's the cost for such system like that? I want BASS.

hahah, exactly...i want g-money eastside san diego bass too!
I'm in the process of upgrading the system as well. Probalby will go with dual 10s JL and focal speakers. Does anybody know what the JL clean sweep does? Seems like a lot of guys recommend having that installed in a Benz.
I also want to move my subs from my other car to the Benz. I'm having withdrawal issues from the bass. I was never a basshead but after a few upgrades I ended up with 2 bitchin 12's on my trunk.

I need info on the hi-lo converter as well, and what I would need to get a system in this car. I have the amp, subs and box already of course.
yeah, i have 4 subs sitting in my garage and a ton of fiberglass, resin mix and plexiglass ready to go.
Mike, you make your own boxes? Can you make just about anything or the usual square/rectangle boxes?

Btw, I know of a guy who had a carbon fiber sub box made for his GT3 just to reduce the weight

i can make fiberglass enclosures...nothing too crazy but still nice enough wheres theres shape and form to it. Its prolly been 3 years since ive played with fiberglass though. Ive always thought about using CF but not sure how to play wtih it so the weaves look perfect and its not very cost effective. My goal on the benz was to wrap it in alcantra or paint it, all depending on how lazy i get towards the end of the project
My Install alone cost 4 Grand. Thats what happens when you go to the best. I got all the equipment for free though, there was about 12 grand worth of amps and speakers. I got sponsored. A good HI/LO converter shoould be no more than 60 bucks. Im not sure how difficult they are to install, but once you install that, everything else should be real easy.
You sir, have more patience than I'll ever have :dunno:
I've got a really, really covert system. My sub is behind my rear seat (and therefore goes directly into the cabin, giving one 12 the usual sound of a 15 with the top up) since the cabrio trunk has basically zero space. my screen is a pop-up touch screen from pioneer. I used an Alpine amp, and put it in the trunk, and the rest is Punch Rockford Fosgate. I'll get some pics up later if you want?
We can take my Reus System apart and see what wiring they did, if you'd like?
