I got a speeding ticket!

So i was driving down PCH. i wasnt speeding...really....i was moving with traffic. (so yeah i was speeding i guess). and next thing i know im getting pulled over. i pull off the road on to a nice side stree along the beach. hes comes up to my window and he was like 'do you know how fast you were going?' and i just responded 'no, but i was moving with everyone else' and hes like 'so you dont know how fast you were going?' and i responded 'well i dont glue my eyes to the speedometer' then he said 'well take a guess' and i said 'i will guess okay..i was going 50' and then he said 'well thats a crazy guess because the speed limit is 50' and then i was like 'well yo umade me guess' i was having fun, but he was being cool too. Then he asked me for my license ins. and reg. i gave him my license and reg. but i couldnt find my insurance that was current (my latest card expired a month ago, but i am covered still). As he takes my info back to his bike i ask if i may have a warning, and he responds 'haha, not today. you were going 15 over the speed limit' so i was like 'so i was going 65?' and he said well i clocked you at 67' and he wakled back to his bike.
he comes back 5 min later and says 'i can get you for anything i want right now. you drivers license that doesnt have a correct address (its in the mail). your insurance with is not current, your front license plate, and the stickers you have in your windshield blockign your vision, i can also get you got going 67 in a 50 mph zone (the posted speed on the road).
or i can be nice and get you for driving 2mph over state max of 65 on a double yellow 2 lane highway, and thats only 2 mph over. what do you want?
i said 'whichever you think is best?' and he said 'well going 2 mph over the state speed limit is the cheapest for you' ill get you for insruance and drivers license too, but you can have that corrected by a police officer'
so i respond, so youre getting me for going 67mph in a 65mph zone? 'yes'.
i said 'okay' and he made me sign the paper. and he said 'get your odometer checked, have a nice day' and i reponded 'you too' and then he said 'nice speed racer sticker' and at that moment i knew i got pulled over because my speed racer sticker gave me away and possibly made him think im a *sshole driver as result of the sticker.

so i get home and then i read that he got me for going 67 in a 65 mph zone. but in the box that says what speed i was going says 'APPROX 67mph'
and i got caught for 65 mph.

so what im thiking is cant i just go to court and say 'well he got me for going APPROX. 67 mph, but the state max speed on a double yellow line 2 lane highway is 65 mph. seems kinda weird because isnt 65mph approx. 67 mph? and thus im going the speed limit, approx. depending, on his radar gun, my spedo, size of my wheels and what not? what if he was turning the radar gun as i was passing by? couldnt that all factor into the 2 mph he got me for and thus making me get away with it?
very confusing and weird i say.

needless to say..my sticker is getting taken off (i liked it too)

i just dont get why he was giving me an option of which ticket he can give me? either i am wrong, and give me the ticket, or he has no complete proof and hes makign me dig myself in a hole by admitting my speed, which i refuse.

They can't make you admit your speed, that would be under duress and not admissible in court IIRC.

I don't know, that sounds weird. Getting out of a 2mph over the limit seems laughable...

You shouldn't pay any fine for that shit.
Just go to court. .. The Judge will get a good kick out of your "2 MPH" over the speed limit, and more than likely dismiss your case. Consider yourself lucky on that one.
dayam turds... sorry to hear!!!

When you go to court, the judge will DISMISS your case so dont worry about it.
Cop gave you a break but still will waste your time in court and $10 for the fix-it stuff.
I had a traffic lawyer when i lived in sacramento..i got out of 2 speeding tickets and had one wreckless driving ticket (lost control of the car while taking a turn infront of a cop) turned to a speeding ticket. so i only have 1 or 2 points on my record, maybe..if not none. im going to fight this one way or another.
Cops who give options are great. I bargained with a cop once on the side of the road, and instead of my powerslide through a stop sign (reckless driving) ticket, he gave me a no seatbelt instead. He even looked past all the fix it crap on the car.

Sad part of the story is I fed the guy a huge lie that I was on my way to a friend's funeral, and half an hour later I came face to face with him at a red light. He looked pissed

Question on that comment about wrong address on license. I recently moved and was told by DMV it doesn't matter if the address on my license is changed. If I did want it changed it would be $18 or $20 for a new card? Can anyone elaborate?
it doesnt matter rreally, u can ask for a card where u can add your current address on it. but i only had my ID and my license was lost. by law u need to notify the dmv for change of address, but u can just ask them for a card to fill out your new info, but u have to carry it with ur drivers license...just pay the 20 bucks and get a new DL i say.
Fucking Dut. Look at this guy complain about $20 when you just got a $20k car you can't drive. :stick:
You don't HAVE to get a new card, it's just a pain to carry around the change of address form with you and make sure it doesn't get separated from your license.
LOL!!!! OBVIOUSLY its not about $20!!!!!! I wonder if I can do it over the phone? I hate going to the DMV.
when u say u want another DL, they give you a form to fill and give you a ticket...that number on the ticket comes up really quick...with DL stuff u get out in like 20-30 min
