Well, it's finally time to drop my car! Here's what's in the works:

Vogtland Springs
KYB dampers
New strut mounts
New lower control arm bushings
New right lower control arm (mine is bent)
New ball joints

I know there's a few of you who are thinking :wtf: KYB?!?!? No Bilstein?!
Well, I got a bunch of opinions on this subject and then I spent about a half an hour talking to a guy down at the local performance shop and we kinda came to the conclusion that KYB will give me the performance I need for about 1/2 the price of Bilstein.

So anyway, I have the springs, the bushings and the control arm - I'm just waiting for the rest of the stuff to get to me.

I found a mechanic that will R&R the ball joints in exchange for free massages for his wife, so aside from the DIY stuff, I'm good to go!

Once I get the project under way, I'll be posting a lot of pics, so stay tuned...

I am also geting KYB's. I talked myself out of the Billys. You'll get them before me, so tell me how they ride! :D

Well, the rest of the parts came in, so I thought I'd post some pics before they go in:

Used (but straight) right lower control arm, $15 on eBay

Vogtland Springs, $130 through a guy I know with access to wholesale pricing

KYB dampers, $205 on eBay

Strut mounts, $38, Ball joints, $24, and control arm bushings, $42 - all from eBay, all German parts

As soon as I get my hands on the spring compressor, I'll get started!

Here's some before shots:

Note the 4x4 stance:

Here's my bent right control arm - see how the wheel sits all the way back in the wheel well? Scary. The previous owner had it aligned that way.

This shows the 4 finger wheel gap

Looks good Matt! All the best to you and the mods!

I was wondering who would notice that first. With the f-ed up alignment that was done on the car, it eats the front wheels. If you look at the pic in the pinstripe removal thread you can see where the belt is starting to show on the driver's side front tire. I've been putting off replacing them until after I do the suspension so it can finally be aligned properly.

I'll see if we have any 15" tires in stock and I'll hook you up if we do.
