Hm... in terms of quality, what does it compare with? Like, I'm into video editing and making short movies, commercials and music videos. Would it be something that's perfect for any of those? What I'm trying to say is that, would the quality be like those in the music videos you see on TV?
Dude, the quality is slamming. I have no idea how to manipulate the footage (software wise). You welcome to borrow it for a test run.
You welcome to try it out before you spend the load on one.

Bring it to the next fusion meet. Tee hee, you said load.
Hey knuckle kids ain't cheap. I'll bring it out.
Quality of the camera is definitely better than those of music vids. It is capable of full 1080i HD quality.
I'm looking into getting one right now...have anyone looked at the Sony HDR-SR1 and the Canon HV-10? I'm leaning more towards the Sony but wanted to know if anyone did the research to see which one is the best bang for your buck!
For camcorders go with Sony. Digicams and dSLR's go with Canon. I was told that a long time ago and it should still stand true.

HDR-SR1 is the way to go. Jangster and I have it and it's GREAT.
I just picked up a Sony HDR-SR1 at Amazon. It's on sale for $1221, no tax and free shipping.

Welcome to the SR1 club.
I love mine. Just picked up a wide angle lens and car power for it a few minutes ago.
Finally, someone else has one so you guys can teach me how to manipulate the files. I still can't play the damn MPEGs from it on my computer.

Jangster, you need to load the software that comes with your SR1 and use it as the PLAYER to play it in HD1080i and convert it to mpeg if need be. ;)
I did that. But the converted files will still only play in the sony software and not my windows media player. Luckily, Jay was able to upload them to you tube and they worked, so I don't know what gives. The Media Player tries to play them and says it needs some codec error?
