One More Post About Removing The Resonators

4655 Views 39 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  davidmatthewhernandez
Today I was thinking about last week's lesson, and how Murtaza's car doesn't even have resonators from the factory to begin with. If that car sounds just fine without resonators, why would other MB's sound like crap if the resonators are removed?

The only thing I can think of is the stock resonators balance the pressures between the two exhausts (left and right), so replacing it with an X-Pipe is a better bet than just straightpiping it.

Am I making sense or am I missing something here? I'm seriously considering yanking the resonators now.

Nobody has any ideas?? :dunno:
Didn't you already yank the resonators?
I straightpiped the secondary cats. I was happy with the results at the time, but I got used to it now...so I want more :D
do it :dunno:
its easily reversible
Get an e-cutout while you're at it. :D
Hehehe...Next time I have some time to drive down to the muffler shop, I'm axing the resonators (unless someone convinces me otherwise before then).

Do it!

I'm in the same boat, I think I want it louder... I'm considering going for the 55 mufflers or Eisenmann, let me know when you're gonna head down.

Pepe said it'd be 5 bills for the 55 mufflers, he probably has some kicking around from a previous client :dunno:

He said he'd make it sound like an SL55 or better, i was like :eek:rly:

+2
any ideas on how much it would cost??
headers to the exhaust tip...straight pipe it ALL!~!

WAHAHAHA!!!
I say do it as well. Roupin, you are dead on as to why they add the resonator and why people add the X and H pipes. Your ride won't care about the reduced backpressure, so I say straight pipe it. I like the left and right sounds anyway.
I completely forgot about the resonators lately. In fact, I've ignored my car too. I've just been too caught up with other shit :dunno:

That reminds me, I should pull off the resonators, get working on the intake again, and head down to Powerchip. Maybe within the next couple weeks I'll spend a day working on the car.
Make sure Powerchip removes the dreaded 135mph limit on your shit.
Oh hell yeah. The ONLY reason I'm getting the tune is because of the limiter and the slow shifts. Any power increase to go with it is more of an added bonus.

I'd love to but I'm dead scared of ESP and the laggy shifts on this car. If it purges while the ecu pulls the fuel, BOOM!
