Who Wants To Be The 1st To Convert To a 6-Speed?

I was just thinking about this. The C350 is available with a 6-speed stick tranny. The E350 is the same engine/tranny as the C350, so the E350 could be converted to a 6 speed as well. Now, since the E350 is happily mated to the same 7-speed slushbox as the E63, then the E63 can potentially be converted to a 6 speed stick relatively easily!

Sooo....who wants to do it

I wouldn't touch the drivetrain on any 7G ride with any stick. That's just asking for trouble.

It was just an idea :dunno:

Lots of people are scared of the swaps, but after seeing how easy it is (on GM cars), I've changed my mind on it. The hardest part is convincing the ecu that there's no tranny to control.

This is an area that the mb's are definitely lacking in...

in the end though, I think mb's don't offer stick for a reason...different market perhaps???

MB doesn't think that North America wants a stick. The E-class W124 was available in stick in Germany, but not here.

I think the E63 would be a hoot to drive if it was stick :thumbup:

"Do it" that would be sweet. My c class is stick and wouldn't want it any other way.

Anybody want to engineer a kit for this type of thing?? I'm down to help in any way. We could make some serious $$$ if we were the only ones selling a manual trans conversion kit for AMGs.

I always figured one of the other mod companies would have done this already if it was feasible though. :dunno:

renntech used to (might still) do it, i believe it was 15000. their clk60 w/ 6 speed was a monster, 3.9 0-60
